Griha Pravesham

Griha Pravesham is a ritual performed before the owner of the house resides in it. The ritual involves all good and auspicious things like milk, grains including rice, money, gold, cradle, deity idols, water, etc., are brought into the house. To start this ceremony, an auspicious muhurtham with date and time is picked with the consultation of a priest. The priest guides the owner to perform this ceremony on the chosen day. Our priests will provide a full list of items required for the Griha Pravesham.

Namakarana

Namakarana is one among the Shodasha Karma which is the naming ceremony to name a baby. Namakarana is either done on the 11th day of the infant or in the third month of the baby. The parents choose the name for the baby based on the nakshatra he/she is born under. Other names such as formal name, grandparents name, family deity name are also given to the baby. Priest chant the mantras, purify and offer edibles to the baby.

Aksharaabhyasam

Aksharaabhyasam or Vidyaarambham is one among the Shodasha Karma in which a child is guided to write the first letter of OM which signifies the sound that emanated when the universe was formed. Aksharaabhyasam is the initiation to give the child a formal education. The father places his child on his lap and guides his child to write OM followed by all the letters of the alphabet. Priests chant mantras to invoke Goddess Saraswathi, the goddess of learning and knowledge to bless the child.

Anna Prashanam

Anna Prashanam is the seventh among the Shodasha Karma (Sixteen rituals) a human goes through from conception to death. During Anna Prashanam ritual, the parents of the baby feed solid food like rice, kheer/payasam for the first time. Mantras are chanted by the priest for health and well being of the baby. This ritual is performed between 5-8 months of the child.
